Way to go! And yes, with a family it is difficult to budget, but not impossible. Everyone in my family knows that we are tight until June, but if you really need something, you better tell me 2-3 weeks in advance to be able to get what you want... my husband is having to learn this one the hard way. Hee hee!!

10.99% is the APR on the card so that works out to be about $30/month of interest. What I'm kinda thinking now is that I might only pay off the card that has the interest, and use whatever's left over to cover as many items on my to-do list as possible (including a new bed) and then if there's anything remaining, it can go towards the other card.

Turns out I'm actually not going to get back as much as I originally thought on my taxes (about half) which is still great, but leaves less funds to do other things with than I had thought...but that's fine. I'm good with it. :)

Hurrah! Wow that is faster than you thought - great! You MUST write this all up someday for some financial freedom publication or something because people are rarely diligent over the long haul and that is the key to how you are winning this battle you just don't quit. Period.

Now, help me understand, when you say 10.99% do you mean that's how much interest you have to pay monthly on the remaining principle for that particular card!? Holy cow. What sort of card is out there that has such an insane proposition? You can't make that much money with a basic bank account why do the credit card companies think they can charge that much to users? Or am I missing something?
